Gate of happiness

My life is cold, colder than ice,

It takes sudden turns like a game of dice.

It pierces me with every step I take,

Like a knife with which I cut a cake.

With every move I make, I stumble to my knees,

Desperately needing a warm waft of breeze.

With every smile I fake, every word I say,

I try to keep the truth at bay.

I turn to my friends but alas, they have vanished!

I should have known; our link had tarnished.

I saw my friends holding hands with my enemy,

Laughing at me for being an easy prey to destiny.

I walk and walk and walk and walk,

Hoping to find a key to the lock.

The lock which when opened shall give me relief,

A life as beautiful as a coral reef.

I look high and low, left and right,

My key to the lock is nowhere in sight.

I give up my belief that a new world will arise,

And subject myself to the world of lies.

I know, sometime, my happy end will come,

Sometime, when the soil and I will be one.

Till that day I wait and wait,

Searching for happiness…oh, where is that gate??

    Melancholy!

Its really nice Ragini but you can think about trying out a new rhyming scheme instead of the usual ababab. But a really great attempt at writing!
    Cheers!
